British Pakistani professional boxer, Amir Khan has a net worth of $23 million (£15m) as of May 2012, according to the Sunday Times UK Rich List. The Bolton-born fighter remains the youngest British Olympic boxing medallist, winning silver at Athens in 2004 when he was 17. He won the WBA light-welterweight title aged 22 and spends much of his time in Los Angeles, where he is trained by Freddie Roach and has an apartment. His main business partner is Golden Boy Promotions and he also have a good association with Home Box Office, the prime mover in televising fights. Khan commands more than £1m per fight, plus a share of TV rights. He spent £1m opening the Gloves Community Centre and boxing gym in Bolton. Khan’s hopes of regaining his world light-welterweight title were scuppered when his fight against Lamont Petersen, scheduled for May 19, 2012 in Las Vegas, was cancelled after the American failed a drugs test. Peterson had taken the crown from Khan in controversial circumstances in December 2012 in Washington DC.
