English novelist and former actress, Jackie Collins has a net worth of $93 million (£60m) as of April 2012, according to the Sunday Times Rich List. Having sold about 400 million copies of her bonkbuster novels, Collins’s 28th book, Goddess of Vengeance, has just been released in the UK. Eight of her novels have been adapted for the screen, either as films or television mini series. She Collins initially wanted to be a film star like her sister Joan, but turned to writing fiction instead, encouraged by her late husband, Oscar Lerman, owner of Tramps nightclub. Back in 1990, her wealth was calculated at £18m, when she had barely started. However she told The Guardian in 2011 that the Sunday Times Rich List past reports of £90 million valuations were too high: “I’ve been writing for many years, but they don’t take into account taxes, then a manager and a PR person and expenses. I probably made a lot of money but I haven’t got a lot of money – I mean, I’m very comfortable.”
