Bernie Ecclestone net worth: English business magnate, president and CEO of Formula One Management, Bernard Charles “Bernie” Ecclestone, has a net worth of £2.5 billion ($4.3bn) as of April 2012, according to the Sunday Times Rich List. He is best known to many as the primary authority in Formula One racing and made his fortune in the sport. Ecclestone started his career in Formula One as a driver, he entered two Grand Prix races during the 1958 season, failing to qualify for either of them. He bought the Brabham team in 1972, which he ran for fifteen years. He joined the Formula One Constructors Association. He also has an interest in football, with a 62% stake in the west London club Queens Park Rangers.
His marriage to Croatian model Slavica Malic ended in March 2009. The amicable divorce in made Slavica one of the richest women in Britain with a reported settlement of £700 million. At the time of divorce much of the family’s £2.2 billion fortune was held in Slavica’s name in offshore trusts in Jersey. The couple are on good terms and it is thought Bernie managed to keep about two-thirds of the fortune he has built up through his shrewd handling of F1. They have two daughters. He is reported to have spent £110 million in 2011, buying homes in west London for his two daughters from that marriage, Tamara and Petra.
