Extremely lucky. That is more than my father will ever make in his entire life including the free spending money and no fees. Wow! Ive never heard of a career that pays soo much money and even covers your own personal expenses wether they are expensive or not.

Think about how much money a CEO of a fortune 500 company gets paid. 400,000 for the President of the arguably most successful country in the world is nothing.

People have said that if Obama and Buffett wanted to just pay more in taxes, they would just write checks to the IRS. That would solve nothing because by them doing that, that would not make the rest of the people in the one percent to decide to write those checks also. It has to be made law.

Someone else on here said that Obama is not in the 1% because he makes 400k and the richest person in the world has 66 billion. There are 300 million people in this country so to be in the top 1% you need to be one of 3 million people that make a certain amount. I’m betting that 400k a year puts you in that club.

Oh one more question.. if someone could help and give me some insight to this matter. If taxes are raised on the “rich” considering there are more people below the $250,000 . How will that work , I wonder how that is going to carry us and get us out of this mess of debt. I just feel with more people under this mark .. Won’t this affect business owners who make over the$ 250,000 , wondering how they are going to hold their own , and afford the insurance for their employees. I follow the politics and try to stay informed . But was wondering if someone could enlighten me here. Thanks

I am not sure if you are aware of this, but people can pay whatever they want above the normal tax rate. If Buffet and all those who signed the pledge really wanted to pay more in taxes, THEY WOULD. It’s just lip service until then. We do not have a tax problem sir, we have a spending problem.

I guess, according to what you say, our choices are to have the government tell us where to work. At least we vote to have a say in government. The other choice is to be slaves to corporate american. We don’t vote them in and they make us believe we need them. Corporations definitely tell us what to eat and what to wear. I think I will go with the government I vote in.

Jodi if you’ve been “out of work” for 2 years with a 2 year old ( you basically have not worked since your child was born) and IF you have no “father” around to help you support your child, then s*ck it up and ask the GOVERNMENT that You Paid Into to help you and your child. You can qualify for several Gov Assistance Programs that will provide day care subsidies so you can go job hunting or for when you do land a job. You can get WIC (women Infants and children-for food to put in your child’s tummy) you can get Medical Insurance, and yes even FOOD STAMPS and a small Monthly Income. Or Unemployment Benifits Plus the other subsides mentioned. You paid into the “system” with your hard earned paycheck “deductions and taxes”. it’s time to ask for a little bit of it back. You don’t have to pay it back-it’s your money your using. S*ck it up and drop your pride.
The great depression had people standing in lines just to get a little bit of food, there was homeless and jobless, some people even had to send their kids off to live with other relatives, those were hard times.
So, If you have a roof over your head, a warm bed to sleep on and food in your family’s stomach these days, then you will survive until things get better, and they will get better( if you’ve noticed we are not in a great despression- we are in a recession.)

Do you all really think that President Obama is the ONLY President in the entire history of presidential terms to get a salary and freebies for his family? Now go look at Mitt’s net worth and it’s outragously more than Obama’s. So if Mitt gets elected, do you think that he will “refuse” the extra money and perks of being president? Probably not.
For those of you who think that Amrageddon is going to happen if Obama is re-elected, well it’s just 4 more years, he can’t serve any extra time-just like W. Bush didn’t, even after he was re-elected and sunk our economy into the ground with the help of the Senate, Congress and Loop holes for the rich and lets not forget all the Madoffs that took money out of hard working Americans hands to feed into their own greedy needs. Let’s not forget the War on weapons of mass Distruction, I mean hunt down Sadam even though it was Bin that sent his hijakers to New York and Sadam didn’t really have a Massive arsonal of weapons to be seized by us. That War cost us Money and Our Men and Women Soldiers their Lives-thanks W.Bush, we really needed that spending hike on Military operations that put us even deeper into debt.
The Budget won’t pass, because we’ve got Donkeys and Elephants kicking and stomping all over eachother to get the upper hand. Let ALL Goverment Officials take a PAY CUT and a Tax Hike and maybe the Economy will finally balance out. For those of you that were adults in the 1980′s, remember the slogan ” Made in the USA”?, today’s Corporations are greedy and don’t want to pay the higher costs of doing business in America, so they go elsewhere and get other countries to manufacture our goods at around .35 cents an hour compared to the Government sanctioned Minimum Wage Rules we have here. Even American MADE Auto parts are made in other countries and shipped here for “auto assembly”, car stickers should read “assembled in the USA”. This country has already gone through a GREAT Depression, a Recession , a few economic slides down the rabbit hole, Insane Gas hikes at the pumps (since W. Bush was in Office) , stock market crashes, etc. Buckle up people, the road might be bumpy, but we’ve been down it before- we will survive.

If he didnt pay his dues, wouldnt he be arrested for tax evasion or something similar?
