Highest-Paid Political Leaders In The World

    Posted date:  September 10, 2011  |  14 Comments

In 2010 Kenya’s prime minister, rejected the pay increase he was awarded by the country’s parliament. MPs had granted Mr Odinga a raise to nearly $430,000 a year, while giving themselves a 25% increase to $161,000. This boost placed Mr Odinga among the highest-paid political leaders in the world. More worryingly, his salary would be some 240 times greater than the country’s GDP per person (measured on a purchasing-power parity basis).

Lee Hsien Loong, the prime minister of Singapore, tops the list of selected leaders’ salaries. He is paid more than 40 times the city-state’s GDP per person. At the other end of the scale, Manmohan Singh, the prime minister of India, reaffirms his reputation for saintliness by taking a modest sum of US$4,106 annually from Indian taxpayers.

OMG…….! Just to say da least, speechless beyond words if @ all Raila is pocketing this amount, shame to him & da entire members of parliament! It’s not about da affordability rather than principle, if developed nations leaders e.eg US, UK, Germany, France & others with such high GDP’s for instance can result to pay a rreasonable p/age for their leader I hate to say….kenya is one useless country (by da way am kenyan too!!)..am appalled beyond belief….disgusted even to even think about it…for God’s sake how do some people even sleep @ night??????????…………..

This can’t be true about Raila Odinga! The pay rise is about the country’s President Mwai Kibaki, this website obviously got its facts wrong! There is NO WAY possible that Mr. Odinga is paid more than Mr. Kibaki. With all the political tension, this would imply that Odinga has more power than Kibaki! Mr. Odinga did reject the pay rise in 2010 but Mr Kibaki did not, he is the one on the list, not the country’s Prime Minister

In most countries, the benefits of pdts, vps, pms, mps, minsters, secretaries of state and other government officials comes with benefits that pale their salaries. Nigeria, Cameroon, France… are examples. This article is junk. Sorry.
